Robert Ray Supenia, 32, of Clearfield had been charged with five counts each of terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and harassment and one count of criminal mischief.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the alleged incident occurred May 13 on Alder Street in Gulich Township. Alder Street is on a dirt roadway that leads to a “party area” and located off Union Street, just south of Ramey Borough.
The incident occurred when the alleged victims attended a party there; however, they decided to leave after believing some people didn’t want them there. While proceeding to leave, Supenia allegedly began striking their vehicle with a baseball bat. They attempted to drive away again at which point Supenia allegedly threw a baseball bat through the vehicle’s rear window.
The vehicle became stuck in the mud and stalled out, as they continually attempted to escape. At that point, the alleged victims exited the vehicle, fleeing into the woods and fearing for their safety. Supenia allegedly continued to damage the vehicle after it was left behind, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
On May 24, state police interviewed a witness in his mother’s presence at the Clearfield-based state police barracks. The witness observed Supenia allegedly come running out of the woods with a baseball bat and strike the back window of the victims’ vehicle. As the victims began driving away, he alleged Supenia threw the bat at the car.
According to the witness, the vehicle became struck in a mud hole and stalled out. He said that Supenia came running up to the vehicle in his attempt to catch the alleged victims as they fled. At that point, he said Supenia allegedly pulled a switchblade out and slashed the two front tires. Afterward, he said Supenia asked him for a ride back to the party and told him he’d also damaged the gear shift inside the alleged victims’ vehicle.
The total damage to the alleged victims’ vehicle exceeded its value, state police said in the affidavit.
