CLEARFIELD – A Clearfield disc jockey whose favorite tune seemed to be “Cocaine” pleaded guilty to selling the drug in six different cases Monday in Clearfield County Court.
Duncan E. Solada, 37, of 301 E. Walnut Ave., Clearfield, an inmate of the Clearfield County Jail, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-cocaine in each instance. He was sentenced by Judge Paul E. Cherry to a total of six to 19 years in state prison.
Investigators set up several controlled buys from Solada, who has a DJ business in the fall of 2010 and the spring of 2011. According to the affidavit of probable cause, the first incident occurred on Sept. 21, 2010 after an undercover officer and a confidential informant went to Mary’s Place in Clearfield Borough with Solada to set up DJ equipment. While there the informant put $200 under a laptop and then Solada put two small baggies of white powder next to the money. The informant took the baggies and later gave them to the undercover officer.
On Oct. 27, 2010, an informant met with Solada in the parking lot of Mary’s Place, where the informant gave him $100 in exchange for one gram of cocaine. On March 28, 2011 and April 8, 2011, informants bought an eight ball of cocaine each from Solada at a hotel in Lawrence Township.
The investigation continued into May 2011 when an informant and an undercover officer met with Solada May 6, 2011 first at the Country Hearth Hotel in Lawrence Township. They were told he was out of “hard” or crack cocaine but did have “soft” cocaine. They were directed to meet him later at the parking lot of a business on Third Street in Clearfield Borough. When they arrived, Solada gave the informant five plastic bags of cocaine for $500. A few days later on May 10, 2011, the officer and informant met Solada again in the parking lot, where they were able to purchase six plastic bags of cocaine for $500.
In a related seventh case, Solada pleaded guilty to default in required appearance for which he was given a concurrent six months to two years prison sentence. This charge stems from April when he failed to appear in court for his trial.
Solada was fined a total of $15,009 plus costs.
