DUBOIS – A roadway improvement project near DuBois will start next week and drivers may experience delays in and around the DuBois Mall area.
Crews will begin work that will improve traffic flow on Shaffer Road and Beaver Drive. When the project completes in spring of 2013, travel through this area will be smoother, less congested and more efficient.
Starting as early as next week, drivers may encounter lane restrictions on Shaffer Road and Beaver Drive during daytime hours. With school starting next week as well, delays could be lengthy. PennDOT will perform work during nighttime hours as necessary.
Overall work on the project will include roadway widening on Shaffer Road and Beaver Drive, addition of turn lanes for the Shaffer Road/Beaver Drive intersection, latex deck overlay for the Sandy Lick Creek Bridge on Shaffer Road and signal upgrades.
PennDOT expects roadwork to be finished late this year, with signal upgrades scheduled for spring of 2013. The contractor on this $1.2 million project is Francis J. Palo Construction Company of Clarion.
Drivers are reminded to proceed with caution, remain patient during travel delays and be alert for crews working along the roadway. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
