Creedie M. Whited, 91 of Philipsburg and formerly of Huntington, WV died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at his residence. Born July 26, 1921 in Gandeeville, WV, he was the son of the late Mont and Icy (Miller) Whited.
Mr. Whited was retired from the former General Cigar, where he was a supervisor. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Middleton and a coordinator of and involved in civil defense.
He was of the Methodist faith.
He was first married Aug. 10, 1946 to Alice (Farrar) Whited, who died Sept. 1, 1986. He then married Mary Elizabeth (Maines) Whited, who survives at home July 10, 2010 in Shiloh.
He’s survived by one son, Stephen V. Whited and his wife, Stephanie of Los Alamitos, CA and one granddaughter Natalie Whited.
He was the last member of his generation.
Mr. Whited was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, four brothers and five sisters.
A graveside service and burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens, U.S. Route 60 Midland Trail, Barboursville, WV, with the Rev. Dr. John R. Sauvage officiating.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday at the David K. Dahlgren Funeral Home, 228 N. Centre St. Philipsburg and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Monday at the White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
