GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP – A 20-year-old Karthaus woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident at 11:40 p.m. Wednesday on state Route 219 in Greenwood Township.
The Clearfield-based state police identified the woman as Abigail Hertlein Green. She was transported to the Clearfield Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by the Clearfield County Coroner.
Green was traveling southbound on SR 219 when she lost control of her 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It crossed into the northbound lane and rotated approximately 90 degrees counterclockwise. Then, her jeep overturned several times.
She wasn’t wearing her seatbelt; she was ejected from the jeep. Her jeep sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.
State police were assisted by the Mahaffey Ambulance, Clearfield and Curwensville emergency medical services and both the Mahaffey and Grampian fire departments.
