Edna L. Johnson, 99, of DuBois died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at Nelson’s Golden Years. Born Dec. 26, 1912 in Brockway, she was the daughter of the late Elton and Edith Matson.
In September of 1930, she married Carl Johnson. He preceded her in death in June of 1986. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where she participated in many activities through the years. She enjoyed crocheting and reading.
She is survived by her son, Chester “Chet” Johnson and his wife, Barbara and her daughter, Lois Shenkle and her husband, Fentley, all of DuBois; her sister, Mildred LaBorde of Gary, IN and her brother, Edward Matson and his wife, Marilyn of Bransonville, NY; 12 grandchildren, Cindy McCarthy, Don Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Lisa Baker, Kimberly Roman, David Johnson, Cheryl Roy, Amy Rodgers, Brooks Shenkle, Jeannie Ferraraccio, Judy Sponable and Joy Cloak; 23 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by nine siblings, Ralph, Damon, William, David, Walter, Clyde, Marie, Juanita, and Irene and two sons, Donald “Bink” Johnson and Raymond C. Johnson.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Friday at the Christ Lutheran Church.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Christ Lutheran Church with the Rev. Robert Way officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
