PINE CREEK TOWNSHIP – A 44-year-old Erie man was flown to the Altoona Hospital for medical treatment after his box truck traveled through Interstate 80 guiderails and impacted a tree at approximately 4:30 a.m. Friday in Pine Creek Township, the DuBois-based state police reported.
The man who wasn’t identified by state police in the report sustained major injuries in the accident. It wasn’t indicated in the report if he was wearing his seatbelt. His box truck sustained major damage.
The box truck was traveling eastbound on I-80 when it exited the northern side of the roadway. There, it impacted and traveled through the guiderail before striking a tree; it came to an uncontrolled rest.
State police were assisted at the scene by the Pine Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Jefferson County Emergency Medical Services.
