DUBOIS – After communicating with the state’s Department of Transportation, the DuBois City Council voted down the second reading of an ordinance Monday night that would have lowered the speed limit from 25 to 15 miles per hour on Hospital Avenue.
On Aug. 9, it was announced a traffic study would be required before the city could lower the speed limit of any roadway. City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio spoke with John Sutika of the DuBois Regional Medical Center about alternative measures. The hospital will pay to have pedestrian crosswalks installed as well as for signs similar to that outside the YMCA.
The city also accepted the planning commission’s recommendation to convey and consolidate DuBois City land back to the DRMC with the understanding that the DRMC is in charge of all maintenance, including mowing and plowing.
