BECCARIA TOWNSHIP – Two drivers were transported to the Altoona Trauma Center following a head-on collision at 5:30 a.m. Friday along state Route 53 between Irvona and Coalport in Beccaria Township, the Clearfield-based state police reported.
David Carrier, 45, of Clearfield was traveling southbound and entering a right-hand curve in the roadway. Scott Baker, 46, of Coalport was entering the same curve in his coal truck.
The Carrier vehicle entered into the northbound lane and struck Baker’s coal truck head-on, state police said. Both vehicles sustained severe damage.
Carrier suffered major injuries and wasn’t wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident. Baker had minor injuries; he was wearing his seatbelt.
