Daniel H. Knepp, 65, of Bigler died on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at his home. He was born Aug. 9, 1946 in Wallaceton, a son of the late Horace and Pearl (Shimmel) Knepp.
Mr. Knepp retired from the Houtzdale Prison in 2011, where he was employed as a construction foreman. Prior to that, he worked at HRI Road Construction, State College and the Glen-Gery Brickyard, Bigler.
He loved to fish and to spend time outdoors. He also will be remembered for always tinkering in his shop with a woodworking project or tending to his garden while enjoying the flowers.
He was affiliated with the Trinity United Methodist Church, Clearfield.
Mr. Knepp is survived by his wife, Lois (Wooster) Knepp, whom he wed Feb. 9, 1990 in Clearfield; six children Daniel L. Knepp and his wife, Sonja of Bigler, Susan R. Moore and her husband, Chris and David B. Knepp, all of Clearfield, Donald F. Read and his wife, Lorre of Alliance, OH, Dale J. Read of Bald Eagle and Gail A. Goss and her husband, Jeff of West Decatur.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Marlene Graham of Clearfield; six brothers, Gerald Knepp of Curwensville, Rick, Burton, Jim and Terry Knepp, all of Wallaceton and Bob Knepp of Edinburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 13 at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield with the Rev. Penney Rahm officiating.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Monday, Aug. 13 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, 541 Graham Station Rd., Philipsburg, PA 16866.
