PLEASANT GAP – HealthSouth Nittany Valley Rehabilitation Hospital is hoping to raise awareness about cardiovascular disease by participating in the upcoming American Heart Association’s Heart Walk. And the rehabilitation hospital is inviting the community to join the HealthSouth Heart Walk Team.
HealthSouth employees, family and friends, including former patients and their families, will come together to support the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk, which begins at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9 at the Millbrook Marsh Nature Center.
Registration begins at 12 p.m. The hospital hopes that community members who want to join the Heart Walk will consider being part of the HealthSouth team.
HealthSouth Nittany Valley has both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs for heart failure patients, and is proud to have the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for it’s disease-specific care program. HealthSouth is excited for this opportunity to help support the AHA and raise awareness of cardiovascular disease in our community.
Cardiovascular disease is the top killer of all Americans. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), someone dies from cardiovascular disease every 38 seconds. Heart disease kills more women than all forms of cancer combined. And congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant death from birth defects.
