Kathleen Marie ‘Tat’ Shillenn, 89, of Clearfielddied Thursday, July 26, 2012 at her home.
She was born June 16, 1923 in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late George W. and Hazel E. (Price) Shillenn.
Ms. Shillenn retired from the Bureau of Employment Security. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church,Clearfield, the Rosary and Altar Society and the Clearfield Women’s Club.
In addition, Ms. Shillenn was very involved with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. She volunteered at the Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, Clearfield. In her spare time, she enjoyed tending her garden and had a love for reading.
Ms. Shillenn served her country during World War II with the U.S. Navy.
She is survived by two nieces, Kathy (Dixon) Ogden and her husband, Glen of Chesterland, OH and Susan (Dixon) Taraila and her husband, Raymond Jr. of Dover, DE; a nephew, Dr. Dennis G. Dixon and his wife, Marjorie of Wyoming, DE; nine great-nieces and nephews and 10 great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Dixon.
She was loved greatly and will be dearly missed by all of her family. Her family would also like to thank the great care given by Cora Kerr and Bonnie Spencer for the past several years as well as the care and comfort provided by the Clearfield Hospice staff.
A Mass of Christian burial will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield with Father Brandon Kleckner as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Foundation for Health-Hospice, P.O. Box 992, Clearfield.
