CLEARFIELD – Repair work on the Hyde Bridge is nearly complete and PennDOT expects to open all its lanes by late afternoon Thursday.
Completing repairs will extend the useful life of the bridge for years. The bridge spans the west branch of the Susquehanna River, near Hyde on Route 879/1001, or the Washington Avenue intersection.
Line painting will take place on Thursday, but severe thunderstorms are expected and they could hamper the line painting operation. Should severe weather impact the line-painting schedule, a full opening of the bridge could be pushed to Friday.
Work included milling of the existing bridge deck surface, placement of a latex overlay, pavement repair on the bridge approaches, general repairs and upgrades the permanent signals.
This work was part of a contract to repair/rehabilitate three bridges in Clearfield County. Cottle’s Asphalt Maintenance of Everett performed the work under this $1.3 million contract.
