Mary Carmella Georgino, 88, of DuBois and formerly of Penfield died Saturday, July 21, 2012 at Christ the King Manor.
Born July 19, 1924 in Willoughby, OH, she was the daughter of the late John and Natale (Piunno) Geremia.
She graduated with a business major from Andrews School. From 1942 – 1950, she worked as a contract analyst and expediter with the Cleveland Crane and Engineering Co.
Almost by happenstance her older brother, Mike, a sergeant also serving in Europe during World War II, met Donald C. Georgino and shared pictures of his sister who lived in the U.S. She corresponded with Mr. Georgino via love letters and pictures for a long time until meeting. On July 10, 1950, she married Mr. Georgino.
From 1951 – 1997, she worked as the billing supervisor in the family business of Georgino & Sons until her retirement.
She was a member of the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Force, where she served on the parish council and was a Eucharistic minister. She was a volunteer and member of the Maple Avenue/DuBois Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, where she was a guide and worked at the snack bar. She was also a member of the Clara Hall Service League, a division of Maple Avenue/DRMC Auxiliary from 1996 – 1999.
She was a member and past president of the Business and Professional Women Association. She was a board member and past member of the American Cancer Society since 1975. She was named Volunteer of the Year in 1975. She was also Volunteer of the Year at DRMC.
Mrs. Georgino is survived by two children, Jennifer M. Georgino of Atlanta, GA and Damian C. Georgino, Esq. and his wife, Tracey A. Harvey of Sewickley and their two grandchildren, Madeline Marie Georgino and. Nicholas Damian Georginio.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Michael and Peter Geremia. Her husband, Donald preceded her in death Aug. 19, 2007. They had been married for 57 years.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home. A Scriptural Wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Catherine of Siena Roman Catholic Church with Fr. David Foradori as celebrant  Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
