Terry L. Turner, 74, of West Decatur died Friday, July 20, 2012 at his home. Born May 24, 1938 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late Alvy Turner Sr. and Iva (Droll) Turner.
Mr. Turner was affiliated with the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, Osceola Mills, where he was a past council member. He was a member and president of the Slovak Club, Osceola Mills and the Lincoln Club & Pinochle League, Hawk Run.
He graduated from the former Philipsburg High School in the class of 1956. He was retired from the state’s Department of Conversation & Natural Resources, Black Moshannon.
Mr. Turner married Vera (Natalie) Turner on Aug. 2, 1958 in Osceola Mills. She survives him at home in West Decatur.
He’s survived by two daughters, Kathy Maines and her husband, Brian of West Decatur and Beth Stephen and her companion, Patrick Brannon of Thurmont, MD and one son, Mark Turner and his wife, Terri of East Berlin.
Also surviving are three grandchildren, Joshua Turner; Marissa and Ashley Maines; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul F. Turner of Holidaysburg and Wesley Turner and his wife, Judy of Springville, NY; and one sister, Shirley Roberts and her husband, Henry of Tallahassee, FL.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Alvy Turner Jr. and Lloyd Turner and one sister, Sandra Turner.
A burial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, Osceola Mills, with Archimandrite Jacob Piruta officiating. Burial will be at the Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Heath Funeral Home, Osceola Mills. Panikhida will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
