PHILIPSBURG – The investigation is ongoing into an incident of simple assault and theft that occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. today at a West Presqueisle Street apartment, the Philipsburg-based state police reported.
A 46-year-old woman alleged she was assaulted by a known man in her apartment. She told police that she was in her bathroom and came out to observe the man rummaging through her purse and removing money.
At that point, the two engaged in a physical altercation, which the man allegedly continued outside along West Presqueisle Street. He entered a burgundy-colored van and attempted to drive away. However, the woman attempted to stop him by hanging onto the side of the van.
Then, the man allegedly kicked the woman several times and knocked her off the van onto the roadway. The man fled the scene. State police indicated that the woman sustained minor injuries during the alleged incident.
