DUBOIS – Cultural Resources Incorporated and the Reitz Theater Players Teen Workshop presents their production of The Fantasticks by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt at the Reitz Theater in DuBois July 6th, 7th, 12th, 13th and 14th at 7PM, and Sunday, July 8th at 2PM.
Young, foolish and in love. It’s the essence of this long time musical favorite that has run for over 40 years off-Broadway, and was first performed on the Reitz Theater stage in 1995. Director Becky Sensor call the show “a timeless and beautiful story about finding love and discovering one’s self.”
Two young lovers, Matt and Luisa, have parents who pretend to feud, thinking that the children would want to get married, simply for the sake of going against their parents’ wishes. The parents hire a mysterious and romantic bandit El Gallo (Eli Meholick), to stage an abduction of Luisa, so Matt can rescue her and be the hero. Sensor calls the show “a reverse Romeo and Juliet situation.”
The cast consists of area teens who have performed at the Reitz, and other high school and college shows. The cast includes Sarah Aravich, Mark Badtorff, Charles Brocious, Samantha Carpin, Gabriella DeCarli, Will DeGolier, Edwin Leech, Patrick Rutledge, John Vallone, and Sarah Whitaker.
Sponsored by Global Fabrication, tickets are $12 and are available at Kohlhepp’s True Value, S&T Bank on Liberty Boulevard, Rosie’s Book Shoppe, Catherine’s Cache, Stew’s Brew Coffeehouse, and Jim Stellabuto’s Everything Under Foot. Reservations can be made by calling the Reitz box office at 375-4274 or online.
