JOHNSONBURG – Investigators looking into a fire at the St. Joe’s Club in Johnsonburg have determined the incident to be an act of arson.
According to the state police in Ridgway, a state police fire marshal, Johnsonburg Borough Police Department and Johnsonburg Fire Department investigated the fire at 703 Market St. The building had been vacant for the last two years. The last known owner of the building, according to police, was the Johnsonburg Knights of Columbus.
Police stated the fire began on a second floor wood porch. One firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling the fire.
The Wilcox, Ridgway and Crystal Fire Departments, along with St. Marys Area Ambulance assisted at the scene.
Damage is estimated at $100,000. Anyone with information into the act is asked to contact the Johnsonburg Borough Police Department for the Pennsylvania State Police in Ridgway.
