The following programs will be offered at the Sinnemahoning State Park.
Friday, July 6
6:30 p.m. – Evening Kayak Paddle
Evening is the time when winds die and the lake waters calm. Join Sinnemahoning’s park naturalist on an evening kayak paddle around the margins of the George B. Stevenson reservoir, and observe some of the park’s nocturnal residents as they begin their nightly rounds.
This program is registration-only, and spaces are limited. There is no cost for this program, but donations are appreciated and gratefully accepted. Kayaks, PFD’s, and paddles are provided. Please call the park office at 814-647-8401 to reserve your space.
Saturday, July 7
6 p.m. – Smokey Bear and Sparky, the Fire Dog
Kids! Bring your parents to the campground amphitheater to meet our most beloved fire-prevention symbols, Smokey Bear and Sparky, the Fire Dog. Members of the Renovo Fire Department will accompany them to speak about fire prevention and safety. Meet at the campground amphitheater. 8:30 p.m. – Pennsylvania’s Forests: Choices and Challenges
Pennsylvania’s borders encompass 17 million acres of forestland, almost 4 million of which are publicly owned. However, more than 12 million acres are under private ownership. Choices that are made today will impact the forests that future generations will have. Join the park naturalist at the campground amphitheater for this thought-provoking presentation. Sunday, July 8
1 p.m. – Biking the Lowlands Trail
Join the Sinnemahoning State Park naturalist for an afternoon interpretive bike tour of the Lowlands Trail. Take a leisurely ride through rich wildlife habitats and areas where people once lived and worked. Learn how the 40 Maples Day-Use Area earned its name! The Lowlands Trail, which has a Rails-To-Trails surface, is a fairly level, easy ride. Bring your own bike, or borrow one of ours. Meet at the Wildlife Center along Park Road near the Cameron / Potter county line. Water, sunscreen, and insect repellant are recommended.
