HOLLIDAYSBURG – Already ahead 6-1 in a game suspended after two innings because of rain on June 12, the Clearfield American Legion Post 6 baseball team got a three-run double from Jon Janocko in the third frame Wednesday evening and went on defeat Hollidaysburg 10-4.
The Chiefs bounced the hosts out of first place in the Central Penn League West Division and moved into a virtual tie with them for second place, a half-game behind State College.
Clearfield is 6-4 in the league and 9-6 overall.
Janocko’s bases-loaded clout gave him a five-RBI game. He had doubled across two runs in the second inning.
Derek Danver accounted for three of Clearfield’s 10 hits, while Andrew Redden doubled and singled to extend his hitting streak to seven games and Tanner Ogden added a two-bagger.
Kyler Kephart saw his six-game hitting streak end.
Ronny Ogden returned to the mound for the Chiefs to register his third complete-game victory in four decisions.
The right-hander, who hurled three shutout innings after Hollidaysburg scored three runs in the fourth to make it 9-4, scattered seven hits, struck out three, walked one and hit one batter.
The two teams square off again Thursday with the Chiefs back home at the Bison Sports Complex for the first time since June 10.
