Joseph J. Sabinash, 87 of Clearfield died Monday at the Clearfield Hospital. He previously resided in Lancaster, Osceola Mills and Philipsburg.
He was born Nov. 1, 1924 in Lancaster to the late Joseph J. and Mary (Arndt) Sabinash. Mr. Sabinash was of the Catholic faith.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a life member of the VFW Post #5020 in Osceola Mills. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was employed as a firefighter for the city of Lancaster, retiring after 25 years of service. He graduated from Lancaster Catholic High School in the class of 1943 and from the Stevens Trade School in Lancaster as a carpenter.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Sabinash was preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Mimm and Dorothy Rife and by a longtime companion, Betty Wayne.
He is survived by a daughter, Jean Angelo and her husband, Michael of Lancaster; two grandchildren, Michelle Jones of Landisville and Michael Angelo Jr., of Lancaster; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Rose Sourbeer and her husband, Richard of Lancaster; and a brother, John Sabinash and his wife Louise of Mountville.
Burial with full military honors will be held at sea at a later date. There will be no viewing or visitation.
Heath Funeral Home, Osceola Mills, is in charge of arrangements.
