CLEARFIELD – Both the Lawrence Township and Clearfield Borough police departments reported yesterday that a suspect who is connected to two armed robberies has been apprehended.
The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Robert Runyan of Clearfield. He’s been placed at the Clearfield County Jail, where his bail has been set at $100,000 monetary, according to court documents.
Police responded to a robbery at Kwik Fill on South Second Street around 9:58 p.m. Monday. A man allegedly entered the store demanding money while brandishing a handgun. He then fled the scene and was gone before police arrived.
Lawrence Township police reported that once his description was obtained, officers noted it was similar to the incident in Curwensville Borough that occurred at Fuel On Friday evening. Officers also noted the similarities in the way the robberies were committed.
The Lawrence Township, Clearfield and Curwensville Borough police departments, state police and other agencies worked together in searching the immediate area. Officers from Lawrence Township and Clearfield and Curwensville boroughs later responded to a Glen Richey residence where officers took the suspect into custody on a warrant for the Fuel On robbery.
