PORT ALLEGANY – A fire late Thursday night caused an estimated $6,000 worth of damage to a Port Alleghany residence and has been ruled an arson, according to the Ridgway-based state police.
The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and the Port Alleghany police and fire departments investigated the origin and cause of the fire. The fire damaged a two-story, wooden frame residence.
The residence was located at 209 East Mill Street in Port Allegany Borough. It was owned by Mark Bower; however, William Emmerson and Thomas Wilson were listed as tenants.
No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, state police said. Emmerson and Wilson were home when the fire ignited on the front porch. They became alerted to the fire after it was discovered by police who evacuated the residence.
Anyone with information about this fire is asked to contact the Port Allegheny Police Department.
