CLEARFIELD – The students, faculty and administration at the Clearfield Career and Technology Center celebrated their accomplishments on their National Occupancy Competency Testing Institute (NOCTI) exam on May 25, with a Denny’s Beer Barrel Pub 100 pound burger.
The Business Management and Marketing program students developed a campaign to challenge the students to beat last year’s score of 81 percent. The presented challenge was called “Beef Up for NOCTI.”
“The students exceeded my expectations,” said Lois Richards, executive director of the CCCTC. “81 percent is high, but they got 89 percent.”
After all the photo opportunities were taken with classes, instructors and the burger, it was time to cut into it. Watching close by during the cutting of the burger were two culinary arts students, Bonnie Shawley and Junaida Al-Tikrity.
The NOTCI exam is given annually to all seniors in career and technology programs throughout the state. The NOTCI is designed to test students’ technical knowledge through both written and hands-on assessment. Scores were high across all technical areas at CCCTC, but six of the programs boasted a 100 percent pass rate. Those programs are Auto Mechanics Technology, Collision Repair Technology, Cosmetology, Culinary Arts and Food Management, Electronics and Communications Technology/Networking and Residential and Commercial Electrical Technology.
