Catherine P. Wood, 89 of Philipsburg, passed away on May 25, 2012 at Windy Hill Village, Philipsburg.
Born April 15, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Spurgeon Albert and Florence (Schreckengost) Copenhaver.
She was a Protestant by faith and a member of several card clubs and an avid card player. She was a registered nurse for 27 years at Philipsburg State General Hospital, retiring as nurse supervisor. She was a 1941 graduate of Brookville High Schoole and a 1944 graduate of the Philipsburg State General Hospital Nursing School.
On July 27, 1945, she wed John T. Wood Sr., who preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1985.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She is survived by sons John T. Wood Jr. and his wife Rosemary of Bellefonte, James Wood and his wife Judy of Greenville, NC, and Robert L. Wood and his wife Karen of Gearhartville; sister Helen Glovier of Pittsburgh; brothers Kenneth Copenhaver and his wife Nancy of Punxsutawney and Richard Copenhaver and his wife Marsha of Latiz; grandchildren Brent Wood and his wife Jean of Easton, Erin Gearhart and her husband Adam of Bellefonte, Dr. Molly Hoy and her husband Jeremy of Bellefonte, Brian Wood of Philipsburg, Bradley Wood and his wife Brandy of Philipsburg, Cory Wood and his wife Melissa of Gearhartville and Jason Wood of Greenville, NC. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on June 2 at the First Presbyterian Church of Philipsburg with the Rev. Jean Martin officiating. Burial will be at Philipsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 p.m. at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg.
