CLEARFIELD – Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library invites all area youth to “dream big” this summer with the annual summer reading program. Dream Big: Read begins June 11 and will kickoff with the Dream Big: Carnival from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. All interested youth are invited to an evening of games, activities, and prizes with a special visit from storyteller Jan Kinney sponsored by Walter Hopkins, LLC at 6:30 p.m.
Registration will be held online again this year. Those interested in joining the program may access the appropriate registration form through Shaw Public Library’s website beginning Wednesday, May 23rd at www.clearfield.org/shaw. Once registered, participants may pick up a registration packet at the Dream Big: Carnival on June 11th Registration packets include a brochure of activities and events scheduled throughout the summer and an accompanying calendar. Youth will also need a signed photo release form for summer programs.
On June 11, participants can begin reading and logging books and minutes with their online account to earn incentives. All prizes can be redeemed at the Conservatory beginning July 9.
New age categories will be introduced this summer. The Read-to-Me program is open to children ages birth through preschool. Anyone who has completed kindergarten in the 2012 school year is invited to join grades one and two in the School Age A program. School Age B is open to those youth who have completed grades three through five. Anyone completing sixth grade through eleventh grade in the 2012 school year should register for the young adult summer reading program. Class of 2012 high school graduates and other adults are encouraged to sign-up for the adult summer reading program. All registrations for the summer reading program must be completed online at Shaw Public Library’s website, and patrons without access to the Internet or with concerns about the online registration process may come to the library during normal business hours to receive assistance. Participants may continue to register for the summer reading program online throughout the summer and visit the library to pick up their registration packet.
Shaw Public Library is open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., and Fridays from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. For questions about the Dream Big: Read summer reading program, please visit the library or call (814) 765-3271.
