Ruth B. Bloom, 86, of Hyde, passed away May 19, 2012 at the Clearfield Hospital.
Mrs. Bloom was born on Oct. 19, 1925 in Centre Co., Half Moon Twp., the daughter of Robert O. and Emily (Sones) Blackburn.
She retired from Bell Telephone after 42 years of service.
Mrs. Bloom was a member of the Clearfield Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by two children; Gary L. Bloom and his wife Sandy of Curwensville and Sharon Porter of Hyde, five grandchildren; William G. Bloom, Lourie Ann Reem, Garrick L. Bloom, Christopher W. Porter and Jason J. Porter, twelve great grandchildren, four sisters; Mary Thorn and her husband William of Grampian, Ann Mikesell and her husband Donald of Clearfield, Esther Neeper and her husband Leonard of DuBois and Catherine Goodlin and her husband James of Virginia, and three brothers; James Blackburn of Oklahoma, Richard Blackburn and his wife Jane of Kerrmoor and Thomas Blackburn and his wife Peggy of Curwensville.
Mrs. Bloom was preceded in death by her parents, her step mother, Helen (Hoover) Blackburn, her husband, William E. Bloom whom she married May 3, 1947 and who passed away Aug. 9, 1997, two brothers; Robert M. and Samuel E. Blackburn and two sisters; Frances and Leona Blackburn.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 24 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., of Clearfield with Mr. Richard Barkley and Rev. J. Robert Mellgard co-officiating. Interment will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on May 23 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield Presbyterian Church, 119 N. Second St., Clearfield, PA 16830.
