Participants from all over took part in the Clearfield County Conservation District’s Upper West Branch Triathlon on Saturday.
Curwensville Borough Mayor Holly Komonczi, who also serves as the executive director of the county’s tourism authority, welcomed participants and encouraged them to enjoy the area.
The race began at Gasbarre’s McKee Carbide and Tool Division in Olanta. From there, participants ran to the Curwensville Community Center, where they took to the Susquehanna River in kayaks. From there, they traveled down the river to an unloading area just before the state Route 879 bridge in Lawrence Township. The participants then got on their bikes and pedaled the back roads to the finish line at Curwensville Lake and Recreation Area.
The proceeds from the triathlon benefit the CCCD’s Conservation Celebration and education programs.
