Naomi Ruth Mitchell, 86, passed away May 12, 2012 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She fought valiantly, never giving up and never losing her wonderful, quirky sense of humor.
Mrs. Mitchell was born on April 17, 1926 in Woodland, the daughter of Ashley D. and Bertha M. (Graham) Peters. She married Harry R. Mitchell in January 1954 who preceded her death in December 1964.
Naomi was a remarkable mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She loved her grandsons with a passion and family was the most important thing in the world to her. Naomi was a romantic, an artist, a great cook, a confidant and a friend. She was charming, gregarious and full of fun. She was generous, understanding and enjoyed traveling. She took great pleasure in decorating her home; she enjoyed entertaining, gardening and creating beautiful environments.
She was Christian and attended the Methodist church as a youth and later married into the Catholic Church. She took great comfort in knowing that she would spend eternity in heaven.
Naomi is survived by three daughters: Valarie J. Miceli and her husband Matthew Milliron of Clearfield, Lisa M. Myers and her husband Kevin of Fillmore, NY and Sherry A. Hipps of Clearfield, six grandsons: Jeremy Ruffner and his fiancé Lisa Weyand and Matthew Ruffner, Dane and Jordan Lefler and Owen and Drew Hipps. She is also survived by a sister Marjorie (Cassidy) Parks of Woodland and two brothers Duane Peters and his wife Pleasant and Eugene G. Peters and his wife Charlotte all of Woodland and many loving relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Naomi’s Life will be held at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home of Clearfield on May 18 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Dr. Joleen A. Willis officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the hours of services.
