HOLLIDAYSBURG – Rachel Hoffman hurled her first shutout of the season and B.J. Bowman belted a pair of run-scoring doubles to lead the Clearfield Area High School softball team past Hollidaysburg 4-0 at Legion Park Wednesday afternoon.
The non-league win balanced the Lady Bisons’ record at 8-8.
Backed by a defense that made every play, Hoffman scattered six hits and struck out eight Lady Tigers in her fifth victory. She walked one and hit one.
Clearfield scored all of its runs with two outs.
Bowman delivered the game-winning hit in the third inning after Andrea Butler singled and moved into scoring position on Heather Picard’s hit.
Consecutive RBI-doubles by Picard, Hoffman and Bowman provided the insurance runs in the fifth frame.
Hoffman’s two-bagger padded her hitting streak to 15 games, while Bowman recorded her seventh multi-hit effort in the last nine games.
Courteney Storm had two hits for Hollidaysburg (3-14).
The Lady Bisons will try to climb over the .500 mark Thursday when they host Altoona.
