Mark Allen Root, 49, of Clearfield died Thursday at his residence. Born Oct. 13, 1962 in Philipsburg, he was the son of the late George Burton Sr. and Faye (Stonebraker) Root.
He was of the Methodist faith.
Mr. Root was an Army National Guard veteran and served in Operation Desert Storm. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 812, Clearfield, the Clearfield American Legion, Post 6, the Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Curwensville Loyal Order of Moose.
In addition, he was a loyal Pittsburgh Steelers and NASCAR fan.
He was employed by Kent Sportswear, Curwensville, for many years.
Mr. Root was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Cindy, an infant brother, Randy and a niece, April Mosley Mostoller.
He’s survived by two sons, Allen R. Root and his fiancé, Donna Dixon and Nathan C. Root, all of Woodland.
Surviving are six sisters, Donna Jean Aylward and her husband, Jim of Bradford; Daisy M. Mosley and her husband, Fred of Houtzdale; Sandy McDonald and her husband, Jack of Hawk Run; Cathy Roberts of Philipsburg; Frances Elaine Owens and her husband, Mike of Detroit, MI and Pamela Hull of Clearfield and four brothers, George Root and his wife, Rene of Seattle, WA; Howard Root and his wife, Paula of Osceola Mills; David Root of Brisbin; and Jeff Root and his wife, June of Bradford.
Also surviving are two granddaughters, Cammie and Payton Root, both of Woodland, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg with the Pastor Mark Thumma officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
