Penn State men’s hockey coach Guy Gadowsky will join football coach Bill O’Brien for the final week of the Coaches Caravan, which stops at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, on Wednesday, May 16.
Both coaches will speak at a luncheon at the Dobbins Gazebo. Tickets for the 11:30 a.m. event, which is sponsored by the Penn State Alumni Association and the Nittany Lion Club, cost $30 for alumni association members and $45 for nonmembers. To register, go to www.alumni.psu.edu/events/coachescaravan.
Gadowsky will coach Penn State’s first varsity-level hockey team since 1947. The team will play its first season as an independent and will join the Big Ten in 2013.
“I’m excited to join the Coaches Caravan and to have the opportunity to meet all the alumni and fans that help make Penn State so special,” Gadowsky said. “It will be a great chance for me to share my passion for the University and the Penn State community as we get ready to begin NCAA competition next fall.”
First-year football coach Bill O’Brien will headline all 18 stops on the Coaches Caravan, which will visit alumni strongholds in seven states and the District of Columbia. The trip begins April 30 in Philadelphia.
“I felt it was important to get out and meet people around the state and the surrounding states,” O’Brien said. “Penn State is a special place with a huge alumni network.”
The tour also includes visits to New York City, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Buffalo, N.Y.
