CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the Fugitive as Frank Evans, age 21, of Erie.
Evans was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on April 2, 2012.
On Feb. 22, 2011, Trooper John Eisman of the Pennsylvania State Police, DuBois Barracks, filed a criminal complaint charging Evans with: 1) firearms not to be carried without a license, F3; and 2) possession of a controlled substance, M.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Eisman states that on Feb. 22, 2011, the Pennsylvania State Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on Interstate 80. Upon searching the vehicle, Troopers found a loaded handgun and two ounces of marijuana. Evans was interviewed by Troopers and relayed that he was the occupant who had the gun, and that the marijuana was his. Upon further investigation, it was found that Evans was not the licensed owner of the handgun, and that the owner was not present in the vehicle.
A preliminary hearing was held on Sept. 2, 2011, at which time all charges were held to court. On March 22, 2012, Evans failed to appear for Criminal Call and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw stated that on April 13, 2012, Officers from the Erie City Police Department apprehended Evans when he was found hiding in a basement of a residence in Erie. Evans is currently lodged in the Erie County Prison pending transfer to Clearfield County.
Shaw thanked the Erie City Police Department and the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case.
