MILL HALL – The Clearfield Area High School boys tennis team lost a tight match 4-3 to host Central Mountain on Thursday afternoon.
The doubles teams of Kerry Maines/Kunal Patel and Gabe Ford/Conor Renaud each picked up wins on the day. Maines also picked up Clearfield’s only singles win.
Number three singles player Ian Bookhamer lost a close two and a half hour marathon match 5-7, 7-6 (7-5), 9-11.
Singles Results:
1. Kerry Maines (clfd) beat Merritt Hall (cm) 6-3, 6-2.
2. Cory Maines (clfd) lost to Tom Rodabaugh (cm) 6-7 (3-7), 3-6.
3. Ian Bookhamer (clfd) lost to Daniel Hendricks (cm) in 5-7, 7-6 (7-5) 9-11.Â
4. Vince Owens (clfd) lost to Brody White (cm) 2-6, 4-6.
5. Ben Panebianco (clfd) lost Colby Peters (cm) 0-6, 1-6.
Doubles Results:
1. Kerry Maines and Kunal Patel (clfd) won in a proset match against Steve Lageman and Zack Muthler (cm) 8-1.
2. Gabe Ford and Connor Renaud (clfd) won in a proset match against Seth Wert and Dusty Ballat (cm). 8-6.
Clearfield (1-6) will be in action on Monday April 16 against Elk County Catholic, a team that beat Clearfield 6-3 earlier in the season. Three of Clearfield’s six losses on the season have been by only one point.
