An incident of DUI occurred at 3:22 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Lemont and Highland roads in Jones Township, Elk County. A 20-year-old Kane woman was stopped for a traffic violation at which time a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. She was subsequently arrested for DUI and other summary charged through the district court.
An incident of criminal mischief occurred sometime between 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday on Clarion Street in Jones Township, Elk County. A person(s) used an ATV to spin dirt onto the side of a 50-year-old Wilcox man’s car, while it was parked along the road at his residence.
A minor injury was reported following a single-vehicle accident at 4:45 p.m. Thursday along U.S. Route 219 in Horton Township, Elk County. Wilbur L. Schaffer, 84, of Brockway was traveling southbound in his International Harvester when he observed a deer enter the roadway. He attempted to avoid striking the deer and veered off the roadway on the west berm. At that point, he struck a mailbox and continued in a southern direction, where he struck an embankment. His International Harvester came to a rest partially on its left side in a ditch on the western berm. Schaffer was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the mishap. He was transported to the DuBois Regional Medical Center for treatment. Police were assisted at the scene by the Horton Township Fire Department, Brockway Ambulance and D&T Towing.
An incident of burglary occurred at 4 a.m. Saturday at a residence along state Route 555 in Jay Township, Elk County. A person(s) gained entry to a barn through an unlocked door, and once inside, they removed three, 5-gallon gas cans before fleeing the scene. The victim, a 69-year-old Weedville man, observed a late 1970’s or early 1980’s pick-up truck leaving and traveling on SR 555 toward Weedville.
