ALTOONA — The Clearfield Area boys and girls track teams made their annual trek to the early-season Altoona Igloo Invitational on Saturday.
Jessica Shomo was the top performer for the Bisons when she won the long jump with a leap of 16’1″. She also placed seventh in the triple jump, eighth in the 100 meters and was on the eighth place 4×100 relay team with Shannon Reinke, Jill Heichel, and Rachel Thompson.
Other girl medalists were Thompson, whose personal best 102′ 4″ javelin throw placed her eighth, and Lauren Conrad who placed eighth in the 3200m run.
The boys 4×100 relay team of Rico Longoria, Tyler Stratton, Dylan Graham and Beau Swales also performed well by placing sixth.
Head Bison track coach John Jacob was excited about his team’s best performance at the Igloo in several years, “Both teams have been working hard all season and it is paying off early in the season. I know as a coaching staff we were pleased with all of our athletes whether they placed or not. Everyone was looking to be competitive in each of their events and I believe this made us a stronger team.”
