Christopher Kiver, assistant professor in Penn State’s School of Music, is conducting auditions for a choir composed of members of the Penn State and State College communities. The choir will perform “Rejoice in the Lamb” by Benjamin Britten, “Five Mystical Songs” by Ralph Vaughan Williams and other works on Wednesday, June 13 in the campus’ Esber Recital Hall as part of Penn State’s Music at Penn’s Woods festival. Auditions are open through April 20, and can be arranged by contacting Kiver at cak27@psu.edu.
The final choir will be composed of 24 to 32 experienced singers with membership determined by audition. Auditions will include range tests and sight reading. A prepared piece is not necessary, though auditionees will be asked to sing a brief rendition of a patriotic song, folk song or similar work.
