Police received a report of an internet scam. A man with a heavy accent called a township resident in an attempt to sell an internet software antivirus program. He convinced the resident to hit a series of buttons on his computer, allowing the suspect to gain access to the resident’s computer. Residents are reminded never to give out personal information over the phone or to allow anyone access to their personal information via the internet, even if they are provided a company name and number.
Police responded to a local business for a report of a panic alarm. Officers found it had been set off accidentally.
Police responded to an electrical pole fire on Daisy Stree/Clearfield Mall. Portions of state Route 879 and US Route 322 were detoured due to high tension lines over SR 879. The fire was extinguished and Penelec was contacted.
Police received a report of a burning violation in Plymptonville. Officers found that the fire had been extinguished and the owner of the property was no longer around. The incident is being referred to code enforcement.
Police were called to the Road Trip Lounge for a report of a theft. A Clearfield resident called and said his girlfriend stole the keys to his vehicle. Officers could not locate the caller and the incident was listed as unfounded.
Police responded to a report of theft at CoGo’s on SR 879. A man from Maryland had prepaid for fuel then pumped more fuel than what he paid for. When he went to go back inside, the clerk locked and would not answer the door. The clerk also refused to answer the door when officers arrived. The incident is under investigation.
Police were called for several incidents of theft, criminal mischief and loitering/prowling on Fletcher Street where it is believed that kids put maple syrup and cat tails over vehicles, mailboxes and garage doors.

Police received a reprot of a domestic on Riverview Road involving two men in a motor vehicle; one man was said to be hangning from the outside of the vehicle.

Police received a report of a handicap parking complaint. The complaint was unfounded.
Police received a call from an elderly man in reference to a scam. The man reported that he received a call from a man with a foreign accent claiming he had won over $33 million. The man was then instructed to send the caller an amount of money. The caller was instructed to go to Wal-Mart and purchase a green dot card to claim his prize. All residents are reminded that if you receive a call directing you to pay money in order to claim a prize, it is a scam.
