Clearfield Borough Mayor James Schell read a proclamation ratified by the Borough Council congratulating the Clearfield High School Varsity Competition Cheerleading Team for their recent awards.
The proclamation detailed the squad’s recent achievements: qualifying at the Allegheny Regional Competition, competing and advancing from ESPN’s Wide World of Sports at Walt Disney World, Florida into the semi-finals and finals before placing twelfth in medium varsity division.
The spring cleaning schedule will be soon released. Council member James Kling commented that the schedule follows the same flaws in the schedule for years. Stating fourth ward often, but adding on the other wards, Kling stated the flaw was that borough citizens did know when the monthly pickup of brush and lawn clippings would occur. This leads to such materials set out for weeks.
“We need to communicate more with the people,” said Kling.
Kling stated that the borough has relied on traditional media, and this isn’t reaching those who get their news electronically or through the radio. He shot down just adding the schedule to the borough website as not enough. He affirmed that the borough needed to find a way to communicate the cleanup schedule to citizens without forcing them online, through reading the newspaper, etc.
Clearfield Borough will be purchasing two new laptops, two new desktops, three monitors, and other components required to wire the police department. These will be purchased from ProCom Computer Services. The cost, $7985.47, will be paid for from donations by multiple entities.
