Shirley M. Centra Gaiser, 77, of Olanta died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Colleen Round in Olanta.
Born Aug. 7, 1934 in Philipsburg, she was the daughter of Thomas and Myrtle Mae (Waite) McGonigal. Mrs. Gaiser had worked for Mountain Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clearfield from May 1976 until her retirement in 1995 and was affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Worthington.
Surviving are seven children, L. Elaine Karchner and Wendy Bachelier and her husband, David, both of Kittanning; Vincent James Centra Jr. and his wife, Debra of Frenchville; Markay Kifer and her husband, Arthur, Chris Centra and his wife, Susan and Perry Centra and his wife, Catherine “Kitty,” all of Clearfield; and Colleen Round and her husband, Terry of Olanta.
Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, Lisa Davis, Lindsay (Karchner) Michael, Kari (Centra) Wilsoncroft, Justin Centra, Hillary (Karchner) Wilson, Grant Butler, Rodney Boalich, Chris Centra, Dillon Karchner, Meredith (Bachelier) Slee, Taylor Round, Matthew Bachelier and Jared Round; four great-grandchildren; four sister-in-laws, Alice (Dolly) Centra, of Clearfield, Betty McGonigal of Philipsburg, Anna Teats of Biloxi, MI, Mary Grace DeMarco of Marrero, LA, and two brother-in-laws, Stephen Shufran, of North Versailles and Joseph Centra of Clearfield; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, her husband, G. Daniel Gaiser in 2007, her former husband, Vincent J. Centra Sr. in 2009, five sisters, Cora Askey, Henrietta Ellis, Joyce Butlin, Wilda Shufran and Madeline Sawtelle and two brothers, Walt and Clyde McGonigal.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gaiser will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. of Curwensville, with the Rev. Larry Hill officiating. Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.
