Home A & E CRC to Cater to “Deer Lovely Ladies” for Clearfield’s March Madness By Gant Team 13 years Ago (Submitted Photo) To most of us in Clearfield, “March Madness” means more than just basketball. It means steep sales and flocks of people in downtown Clearfield for three days to purchase anything from guns to fishing rods and recreational items. This is the weekend that Grice Gun Shop, Bob’s Army & Navy and Jim’s Sports Center team up to offer an event that is second largest in bringing people into downtown next to the fair parade. Up to 90 percent of these people are from out of town. The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. (CRC) sees this as an opportunity to cater to the female population this weekend, since it has been statistically dominated by males over the past several years. The CRC welcomes all “deer” lovely ladies to spend an afternoon doing things that ladies “love,” such as shopping, food sampling and tasting. Join us Saturday, March 24 from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. for the “Deer” Lovely Ladies Tour for an opportunity to walk, shop and taste in the downtown. Participating businesses will offer store specials, hors d’oeuvres and local wine tastings from Bee Kind and Starr Hill wineries. “The mission of the CRC is to promote the best of what our area has to offer,” said Kellie Truman, Main Street Manager for the CRC. “With this leisure tour, we’re offering an opportunity to interact with businesses and staff, and to discover hidden treasures within the downtown retailers. “Each event we organize has a target audience, and in this case, we are primary targeting females, but men are also welcome to attend the event as well. We hope in the future that our event in conjunction with ‘March Madness’ will appeal to a greater audience and in turn result with more overnight stays in our community.” Participating businesses include Taffy Salon and Spa, Sweet Art Bakery, Zalno Jewelers, Historica Plus Antiques, Audio Video Appliance Center, No Place Like Home, Clearfield Pharmacy & Gift Shoppe, and the Laurel Eye Clinic. Each participating business will have an exclusive sale or offer for “lovely ladies” the day of the event. Tickets are on sale at the Clearfield Revitalization Corp. office located at 207 East Market St. during business hours of 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday (located within the Law Offices of Naddeo & Lewis). Tickets are also available at the Chamber of Commerce, Zalno Jewelers, Clearfield Pharmacy, Taffy Salon & Spa, Sweet Art Bakery. Take advantage of the early registration discount deadline now through March 16, where tickets are $15 each. Regular registration is $20 per ticket from March 19 through March 24. One must register to participate. If you are from out of town, please call 814-765-6000 and the CRC will reserve a ticket with your mailed registration fee. The CRC office will be open the day of the event until 12 p.m. to pick up your tickets. A ticket includes ID check, wristband and a map of the tour. There is a door prize for one lucky participant, and tickets are limited as the CRC has sold out in the past. The Clearfield Revitalization Corp. (CRC) would like to thank their generous event sponsors: Grice Gun Shop, Spanky’s Courthouse Café, Liberty Tax Service, Starr Hill Winery, Historica Plus Antiques and Ogden Legacy Insurance.
