GOSHEN TOWNSHIP – A 72-year-old Clearfield man was killed in a single-vehicle accident at approximately 11:25 a.m. Saturday on Goshen Road, the Clearfield-based state police reported.
According to the report, Edward L. Montini, 72, of Clearfield was traveling northbound and attempting to negotiate a left-hand curve in the roadway. His pick-up truck traveled off the eastern berm for unknown reasons.
At that point, Montini over-steered while attempting to reenter the roadway. He then lost control of his pick-up, as it slid sideways back off the eastern berm, where it overturned and traveled down an embankment. The pick-up impacted a tree with its left side and roof.
Montini suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by Clearfield County Coroner, Mike Morris.
Police were assisted at the scene by Clearfield EMS and Lawrence Township and Goshen Township fire departments.
