CLEARFIELD – The Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home has received the Silver Shovel Award for the month of February.
A spin off from the previous Golden Broom Award, the Silver Shovel Award is a peer-to-peer program initiated by the Clearfield Revitalization Corporation, (CRC) to promote storefront and sidewalk cleanliness in the winter months.
With the fortune of warmer weather this past month, local business owners still have had a few days with snow and ice. The Silver Shovel has been passed by Burns and Burns Insurance.
Kevin McMillen of Burns and Burns Insurance shared his reason for passing the shovel to Beardsley Funeral Home.
“They have been a catalyst to Third Street and its storefronts to encourage continual improvement and cleanliness. The facade of their building is well maintained, sidewalks are spotless with no weeds, and every morning when there is snow, they are out shoveling.”
Owner of Beardsley Funeral Home, Kevin A. Beardsley stated, “We are thankful to be recognized for our efforts since we are not a typical merchant, as it goes to show each business is just as important towards a brighter downtown. Our Main Street Program has been doing a wonderful job at promoting improvements and upkeep to downtown properties.”
