CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw, Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Brenda Sue Boyer, 47, of Laura Street, Philipsburg. Boyer was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Feb. 13.
On April 28, 2010, Trooper Adam Gibson of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a criminal complaint, charging Boyer with: driving under the influence; investigation by police officers; and restraint systems.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Gibson states that in April 2010 while on routine patrol, troopers observed a vehicle traveling extremely slow through a gated area. Upon making contact with the driver, Gibson detected signs of impairment and requested that Boyer perform field sobriety tests. After administering the field sobriety tests, Boyer was transported to the Clearfield Hospital for blood testing.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 26, 2010 at which time all charges were held for Court. On Feb. 2, Boyer failed to appear for criminal call and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Shaw stated that an anonymous tip provided the location of Boyer. On Feb. 14, deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Boyer along with another wanted fugitive, Corey Wolford, and both were taken into custody without incident.
Shaw further stated that Boyer and Wolford are currently lodged in the Clearfield County jail. Shaw also acknowledged that Boyer and Wolford were successfully captured as a direct result of citizens willing to provide information to law enforcement.
Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their hard work and assistance with this case.
