At the Clearfield Duals on January 21 the Elkers also topped the Golden Tide 52-23.
The match started at 113 were Cody Stahl picked up a technical fall over the Tide’s Travis Lansberry at the 2:42 mark followed by Elker Ted Pierce pinning Tyler Mays in 3:08 at 120, pushing Ridgway out in front, 11-0.
At 126 Brett Himes of Ridgway picked up a major decision over Brandon Sass by a 9-0 score.
In the featured bout of the night it was undefeated, 27-0, Corey Bush of Ridgway going up against Tide standout Jake Keller.
Regulation ended all knotted up at 2-2. In overtime Keller and Bush each got an escape to make it 3-3.
The big win came for Keller when he won on ride out time dealing Bush his first taste of defeat on the year, 4-3.
Zac McKnight won by major decision, 14-4, over the Tide’s Alex Holt at 138 with Ridgway 145 pounder Dakota Dahler receiving a forfeit making the score 25-3 in favor of the Elkers.
Ridgway continued to roll toward it’s 18th victory of the season as Trevor Delhunty pinned Dakota Royer in 5:21 at 152 and Slade Horner then getting a fall over Nathan Wriglesworth of Curwensville at 160, in 3:54.
Icing the win for the Elkers was Dalton Sheasley at 170 pounds when he defeated a very game Austin Pollick 5-3.
The Elkers would win the next two bouts before the Tide would win the last three matches.
Jake Himes of Ridgway won by technical fall over the Tide’s Chad Desmett at 182, 17-2, and then Seth Stahl pinned Jake Kavelak of Curwensville in just 27 seconds at 195, giving the Elkers their final point total of the night, 51.
The Golden Tide would win the next three bouts as Ricky Magnuson pinned Cortland Smith in the third period at 5:55.
Then it was the ever improving Tide heavyweight Brad Stubbs pinning Chad Quail in 2:21 at 285. Quail came into the match at 22-5.
Sam Bressler in the final bout, at 106, received a forfeit for the Tide .
Tide head coach Duane Wriglesworth spoke afterwards, saying, “I thought we wrestled well in some rematches from the first time we wrestled Ridgway. It was good to Jake (Keller) beat a state quality wrestler. And Stubbs (Brad) was very impressive and was really good on his feet.”
The Tide is off until the post-season trail begins next Friday, February 24, in Clarion with the district championships.
