A minor injury was reported following a two-vehicle accident at 8:05 a.m. Saturday on state Route 453 south of Water Street in Curwensville Borough. A 19-year-old Clearfield man was traveling north, while a vehicle operated by Debra J. Bressler, 58, of Curwensville was traveling south. The man was negotiating a right-hand curve in the roadway when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow-covered roadway. At that point, his vehicle crossed the centerline and struck Bressler’s vehicle. Both the man and Bressler were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident. Bressler was transported to the Clearfield Hospital with minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. The man was cited for driving vehicle at a safe speed.
No injuries were reported following a single-vehicle accident at 8:17 p.m. Friday on Interstate 80 near exit 120 in Lawrence Township. Gregory P. Schimmel, 20, of Lancaster was traveling in the right-hand lane next to a passing tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer crossed over into the right lane, forcing the Schimmel vehicle off the roadway. At that point, the vehicle began sliding in a clockwise motion in which it crossed both lanes, entering the center median. There, it collided with a culvert, causing the Schimmel vehicle to overturn several times. The tractor-trailer continued westbound. Schimmel wasn’t injured and was wearing his seatbelt. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
An incident of DUI occurred at 6 a.m. Saturday along Winburne Road and state Route 53 in Cooper Township. A vehicle was stopped at the intersection with an unresponsive operator. As a result, a 22-year-old Kylertown was found to be highly intoxicated and transported to the Clearfield Hospital for chemical testing. Charges are currently pending toxicology results.
