DUBOIS – The DuBois City Police Department is warning residents of a mail scam that has been reported in the area.
A resident informed police that he and his wife received a notice they had won $450,000 in a sweepstakes. The notice included a check made out for $485,000. They were advised to pay a processing fee of $4,100. They would then received the total payment of $450,000.
Anyone receiving this type of notice should question its authenticity. Police stated it is most certainly a scam. Police would also like to remind everyone they should never send money or give information to unknown sources.
