CLEARFIELD – With the region still in the grips of winter, Clearfield Borough Council had a warning for homeowners and business owners.
Public Works Committee Chair Dave Gallaher initially reminded residents that ordinances 797 and 1209 both prohibit placing shoveled snow onto roadways. He said there was a significant problem after the first snowfall with residents and business owners shoveling snow back onto the road after the borough crew had already removed snow.
Council member Tim Winters pointed out that the majority of business owners downtown are the worst offenders. Steve Biancuzzo from the street department noted that they spent at least two additional hours replowing snow after people shoveled snow from their sidewalks or lots onto the roadway.
“Consider this more of a warning than a reminder,” said Council member Jim Kling.
