UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — New head coach Bill O’Brien and his staff will welcome several hundred coaches for the Penn State Annual Football Coaches Clinic, set for March 30-31 on the University Park campus.
The clinic will feature two days of lectures and demonstrations by the Nittany Lions’ staff, led by O’Brien, who was named the Nittany Lions’ 15th head coach on Jan. 6. The New England Patriots’ offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach during the 2011 season, O’Brien began his Penn State duties full-time this week after helping the Patriots earn a 13-3 regular season record and advance to Super Bowl XLVI. A member of the collegiate coaching ranks for 14 years, O’Brien helped New England to two Super Bowls during his five seasons on the coaching staff.
Penn State’s annual spring gathering traditionally draws more than 800 high school and youth league coaches from all parts of the country and beyond the United States.
The clinic will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, March 30, with final registration starting at 7:30 a.m. in Holuba Hall. O’Brien will speak to all clinic attendees Friday night prior to the coaches’ social gathering.
The 2012 spring clinic will feature sessions with the Nittany Lions’ offensive and defensive coaching staffs on March 30. Clinic attendees will have an opportunity to observe a full practice on March 31, as the Nittany Lions will be in the midst of spring practice.
In addition, the clinic will include presentations by Penn State’s new strength and conditioning staff, led by director Craig Fitzgerald, and by Dr. Wayne Sebastianelli, Penn State’s Director of Athletic Medicine.
The clinic costs $85 per person and includes clinic materials, Friday’s lunch and dinner and the coaches’ Friday night social in the Ashenfelter Multi-Sport Facility.
