The Reitz Theater will present The Importance of Being Earnest, A Trivial Comedy for Serious People, written by Oscar Wilde. Under the direction of Ben Fye, who chose to set the production in the 1920’s, this hilarious, romantic farce deals with the moral hypocrisy of London’s upper classes. While believing themselves to be high minded, sophisticated and above reproach, the characters actually demonstrate all sorts of bad manners, self interest and irresponsibility.
Productions will take place on Feb. 10, 11, 16, 17, 18 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and students, and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets may be purchased at Rosie’s Book Shoppe, Kohlhepp’s True Value, Catherine’s Cache, and S & T on the Boulevard, or may be reserved by calling 375-4274. The Reitz Theater is located at 36 East Scribner Avenue, DuBois.
